On Saturday 28th November we had our first practice run out to visit Great Grandfather Donald at Ebenezer. We got off to a slow start as we were unable to start the van for about an hour. When we finally managed to get going we thought it had something to do with Simon reading the Apollo Motorhome manual and releasing the hand-brake and having his foot on the brake pedal at the same time as turning the ignition key. When it came time to leave Ebenezer we had the same problem but the initial solution didn't work this time. It was 38 degrees celsius with a 30 knot westerly blowing as Simon, Jeff and Don tried for another hour or so to get the van going. Finally, Jeff worked out that it had something to do with the immobiliser and asked if there was another key....and yes, there was!! The other key got the van started and we were soon on our way home. I think a few more practice runs would be a good idea. Despite these complications we had a delicious lunch and a lovely catch up with family.
