Meet the Teacher!

Ashleigh went along to the Sydney Distance Education School in Stanmore to meet her teacher for next year and find out about her Year One school work. Natalie was very nice and gave us a tour of the school and explained how the program will work. Ashleigh's work will be posted to her every 2 weeks, to be completed and sent back for Natalie to see. We will also communicate via email and mobile phone.

First test run

On Saturday 28th November we had our first practice run out to visit Great Grandfather Donald at Ebenezer. We got off to a slow start as we were unable to start the van for about an hour. When we finally managed to get going we thought it had something to do with Simon reading the Apollo Motorhome manual and releasing the hand-brake and having his foot on the brake pedal at the same time as turning the ignition key. When it came time to leave Ebenezer we had the same problem but the initial solution didn't work this time. It was 38 degrees celsius with a 30 knot westerly blowing as Simon, Jeff and Don tried for another hour or so to get the van going. Finally, Jeff worked out that it had something to do with the immobiliser and asked if there was another key....and yes, there was!! The other key got the van started and we were soon on our way home. I think a few more practice runs would be a good idea. Despite these complications we had a delicious lunch and a lovely catch up with family.

It's a big cubby house!

Ashleigh and Hannah couldn't wait to show off their new home to their cousins Jaymee and Baylee. All four girls had a ball playing up in the top bed and climbing up and down the ladder. What fun!

Picking Up the Van

On Friday 14th November we drove to Mascot to finally collect our motorhome. It was very exciting and made the upcoming trip suddenly feel very REAL. The drive home through Sydney Friday evening traffic was a heart-pumping experience and thankfully the van just fit in the driveway with a gap of a few centimetres each side! Ashleigh and Hannah loved their first trip in the new van.
